16 minutes agoNEW Refusing to arrange an appointment for covid vaccination for an eligible patient, despite a contractual requirement for them to do so as per the Enhanced Service which permits them to arrange appointments for unregistered patients, and a requirement for them to do using a booking system that doesn't require a NHS Number as per The Standard Operating Procedure

Thank you for your handling of all queries in recent, difficult time’s. In all contact I’ve had with the surgery, we’ve had prompt responses and all appointments and prescriptions have been been issued quickly. It’s great to know I don’t need to worry about getting help for my children if needed during this time. Staff are friendly and helpful. Thank you all.

This review is specifically with regard to the way the practice has re organised in response to the Covid crisis: the arrangements they have made are excellent and we hope they keep elements of this post Covid. Myself and my husband( who has mental health issues) have used the services for a range of things and found it easy to access , quick to respond and very efficient. The option to use a variety of modes for responses from the GP ( email, text, phone, video) other than taking up surgery time are very effective and worked really well for us. I understand that for many using these services online may not be so easy , but hopefully for those of us who find this very accessible it takes the pressure of those needing direct phone access. Keep it! It works.

I am disappointed to report that a recent experience fell short of giving a good service . This was due to the fact that one of the doctors at this practice failed to send my referral to the hospital as was promised at the time of my appointment. Over three weeks ago. I since discovered this three weeks later when I contacted East Surrey Hospital only to be informed that they had not received any referral from Caterham Valley Practice. They instructed me to return to my GP and ask them to refer my details again with an urgent request. Two days later I checked with the hospital again. They had just received a request for only a routine and not urgent ultrasound as was instructed . It had been noted that I was anxious to be seen as soon as possible, having recently endured ongoing treatment for skin cancer. This incompetence has created a nine week delay which when treating cancer can be significant.

Suffering, for the first time, a particularly debilitating condition I was able to book an appointment on line, consult with the excellent Dr Lewis and leave the practice with medication within three hours. A professional well run practice that matches favourably with our experiences of healthcare in the USA.
